Another baking post; a super quick and easy one which can be adapted in many ways to suit!
After having a load of apples from the garden I wanted something new to bake rather than the go-to crumble or pie! Whilst searching online I kept seeing tray bakes, most with other dried fruits or nuts. After having a play with the ingredients I made it a plain apple bake with some salted caramel I found in the fridge haha!

Apple & Salted Caramel Tray Bake
You Will Need:
– ReadyMade ShortCrust Pastry – 4/5 Medium Apples – 4 tbsp Brown Sugar – 1 tbsp Vanilla – 2 tbsp Lemon Juice
Additions As Required Quantity:
– Salted Caramel – Sultanas / Raisins – Dried Fruit – Nutmeg / Cinnamon
1. Pre-heat the oven to 170′ Fan
2. Peel, core and cube the apples and place in a medium saucepan. One a medium heat, add the sugar, vanilla and lemon juice and cook for 10 mins or until apples start to go mushy.
3.Using a medium baking try with the risen lip slightly butter the tray. Roll out the pastry (sheet facing up) onto the tray and push down onto the tray. Cut down the sides of excess pastry and set aside.
4.Once the apples are cooked pour and speed over the pastry sheet, gently swirl in or scatter on your chosen topping. When I used Salted Caramel I melted it very slightly for an easier application.
5.Back for 20-50 until slightly golden. Leave to cool for an hour or so before cutting.
Serve warm as a dessert with cream or ice cream- or once cool sprinkle with icing sugar, cut into square and store!
